Pompeii

A bit wet for our visit to Pompeii . Think these standing stones were used by the Romans to keep their feet out of the sewage on the streets but they came in handy after a brief tropical monsoon. In the afternoon took the bus to Vesuvius and climbed to the crater - some puffs of smoke and a bit of a sulphur smell but no other signs of activity I'm glad to report. We were rewarded with a brilliant view over the bay of Naples and Naples itself .
