Day 9, Haltwhistle Walking Festival
Today was the last day of the autumn festival. It always passes by in a flash. We have had such fun on the walks and hope the people who paid to come enjoyed it too!
I was the back-up on today's short walk, just 7.5 miles in a circuit from Haltwhistle. The morning was fine but the drizzle came on before we finished. John and Paul had done a magnificent job cutting back a fallen ash tree yesterday. It was blocking a tricky little climb through the garlic woods.
Having a good packed lunch is a serious matter for walkers. Here you see F taking his lunch very seriously indeed. (Actually he is chewing.)
After the walk I waited in the Black Bull for the long walkers. They arrived back very happy as did the fungal hunters. I think the landlord was pretty contented too as the bar filled up with thirsty walkers.
Tonight Mum and I had a lovely meal at Peter and Jenny's house, so I didn't have to cook. Mmmm.
