Plein Air Painting - Sauvie's Island
Today began as a disaster, but quickly turned into a great day. I found out that I missed the Parkinson's symposium (which was yesterday) , but decided instead to visit Sauvie's Island --- a great choice:)) I first stopped at Kruger's Farm to see the pumpkins, sunflowers, and produce....it was so fun to see all the families with their children, and soak in the delight in the air. Then it was off to see some wildlife...which consisted of thousands of ducks flying overhead or lifting off from various fields in the distance....the deafening sound was so beautiful! I never tire of looking at the fields on the island...they are so beautiful at this time of year.
I stopped at one of the wildlife viewing areas and ran into two friendly fellas who were doing oil painting...plein air (out in the open air). They really were fine artists and we had some fun conversations about art....such as: "how do you know when you are done with a painting?". I really enjoyed talking with them both, and thought having them in my landscape really improved the view 100%!
