What a start to the day, looked out of the window of our lodge and there he sat eating the nuts I had put out for the nuthatches. I grabbed the camera changed the lens put in a card .....he was still there, so I took 3 shots through the window and tried to creep up to the window.....gone, but I have my first ever red squirrel photo I hope he comes back again, camera will be ready every morning just in case. The Langdale estate has been trying to catch the greys and encourage reds back for years, 2013 they succeeded :)))) The day was grey with light showers but had pleasant enough walk over Elterwater Common through Deer Bolt Wood, traverse Red Bank then around Grasmere shore. Taking in Faeryland Cafe the quirkiest tearoom (shed), just outside the village where you can also hire out a colourful rowing boat. Drinks and cakes are as good as the view.
