First night on the Laugavegurinn.
Implausibly windy, all our kit dreadfully wet, our idea to camp seemed ridiculous in the shadow of the cozy Hrafntinnusker mountain hut framed by the rising steam from the natural geothermal vents.
We sheltered in the hand made walls of obsidian chunks built by years of visiting campers, but still it was a noisy night with the wind and rain assaulting the tent fabric.
yet so memorable.
And in the morning all the fellow hikers we met on the trail were delighted to discover they were talking to the crazy Scottish couple who had camped out last night. Turns out they were all talking about us in their warm dry hut!
