Witches Well

Ok, I used to go to nursery school near this thing in East Crosscauseway and have it in my brain it's got something to do with witches being burned, but also wells for some reason. It was probably a story told to creep out a little girl but Scotland did have a very colourful history of burning ladies who liked cooking and talking to cats, as we know from the Witches and Wicked Bodies exhibition at the Dean Gallery at the moment. Spoooooky!
