Moscow - The big pineapple

We arrived this morning at an ungodly hour, couldn't find the driver to take us to the hotel, was hassled (and helped) by taxi drivers and then finally got to our room for some much needed rest.

A wonderful lunch at the Ресторан across the road from the hotel and then we decided because were so time poor to do a Hop on Hop off tour. I always find these good to get an overview.

Back to collect tripod this evening and then off to St Basils which is not far from where we are staying. The whole square near there is blocked off and there are trucks and trucks of the army and police around. At least a dozen trucks outside our hotel and even more near a hotel across the square. We were wondering what was going on. I was speculating that Putin was having a do but saw on the news tonight there has been a lot of unrest in Moscow today. I do wish I had a bit of Russian.

We saw police drive up and put two men in the back of their van and drive off. But the policeman guarding the perimeter of the Kremlin where this shot was taken was quite friendly (but no English).

There is an attraction near Nambour called the Big Pineapple, one of these spires reminded Kylie of it and I have to agree. The large building with all the lights on it is the Gum Store. Full of designer labels now.
