Second episode of 'The Norns'

last Monday I blipped he beautiful Verdandi, the first sister of the Norns (Viking Goddesses)
here are the other two and they have been carved from the same tree trunk in behind Verdandi.
Urdu is the second sister, she is very old, gnarled and weinkled. she is extremely bad tempered and difficult to approach but if you manage to get on the right side of her, she usually gives excellent advice. She is the goddess of the past and invariably carries a stick on which is notched the years of your life.
Skuld the third sister is usually half hidden and very careful to show only a small part of her face. No matter what you say to her, she takes great offence, sulks under her hood and refuses to communicate. She is the goddess of the future of which we, of course, have only an occasional glimpse.

These sculptures were carved by Allister Brebner and more of his work can be found in Strathpeffer.
