In The Gloaming

The light was fading rapidly as I walked home from work this evening. As I passed the Leamington Lift Bridge it loomed large in the darkness, back lit by a pink sky. By the time I got home it was virtually dark.

The Leamington Lift Bridge is located at the entrance to the Lochrin Basin on the Union Canal in Edinburgh. It was built in Newcastle in 1906 and underwent refurbishment to bring it back into working order as part of the millennium reopening of the joining of the Union Canal and the Forth and Clyde Canal. The lift allows vehicles to pass over the canal.
