Sticky end

I happened to be sitting in an old country tea house in Berrima, a town in the Southern Highlands, when I looked up toward the ceiling and noticed this old fashioned way of fly disposal.
It took my mind back to middle of last century when one of my jobs as a boy, was to dispose of the used fly catching paper hanging from our ceiling. No aerosol cans of fly spray in those days.
It was caked with flies and smelt quite bad and I was convinced in my young mind that should I be unfortunate enough to accidentally touch it, then my demise was imminent.
It's good to have parents that allocate these type of chores!!!
