Short cycle with some off road bits

Glorious day - but following Exmoor lane that suddenly became a bridleway - not ideal on a road bike :-)

Set off on a gentle cycle to Dulverton with Welly Wheelers
Nice coffee and drizzle cake
Had to heard an escaping herd of cows back into field on the way to Dulverton, and ride home turned into a bridleway unexpectedly!

Lady Harriet Ackland's Drive was not the tarmac road I expected!

Lady Harriet Ackland - British nobleman and diarist - travelled with her husband to Canada (Quebec) and America when he commanded the 20th Regiment of Foot in the war od Independence. He was wounded at the Battles of Saratoga and Lady Harriet searched, found and nursed him back to health. He died at Pixton Park outside Dulverton, defending American Honour in a duel! The Drive was built by Lady Ackland after his death to connect the house with Dulverton and the train station.
