Macro Mystery

It's funny how some everday items become almost unrecognisable when photographed very close in macro. This one is obvious once you realise what it is, but may not be so obvious otherwise. Can you guess?

I rang up the computer company today after yesterday's dissapointing news that they could not supply the laptop I had originally ordered. Spent quite a long time discussing the options, but the only laptops they could deliver quickly did not meet the high specifications that I am after. Unfortunately, the spec I want would not be delivered until after I had left for my photographic trip to Scotland, so I have not ordered. I will be lost without a laptop on the trip (but not quite as bad as being without my camera!). It was interesting, though, how flexible the salesmen can be when they realise they are about to lose an order. I was offered an extended 4 year guarantee with next business day, in home, repairs and the price kept on coming down to very attractive levels. However, I need it next week or not for several months, so no sale.
