Male Catkins

Well. I'd never noticed this before. We have a tree in our garden, which I'd always noticed had lots of catkins in early spring. I looked at the window tonight and was surprised to see lots of catkins on it at this time of year.

A quick bit of research suggests these are male catkins, and the ones I see in spring are female catkins. Anyway, on the way out so quick capture using the macro flash.
