Old sea dogs, or are they?

These 6 old guys have stood ,watching the world go by, on my bookcase for 13 years!
I bought them in Cold Spring Harbour , a lovely old whaling town that I loved to visit on the North Shore of Long Island!
It has the usual tourist shops selling scrimshaw ,etc ;all more or less too expensive for my purse or common sense!
But I felt I would like to have something to remind me of the place!
And then in the corner of a wee shop I came across these guys......hand carved wood and old sea dogs!!
At 36 dollars for the 6!!
Alarm bells should have rung!
Having visions of some old salt whittling away under an upturned boat ,bought them there and then!
And brought them home to sit on my bookcase!
Some little time later , found myself in Bournemouth..... and in a shop window here are 6 carved old sea dogs ,bearing an uncanny resemblance to mine......albeit at a little more than 36 dollars!
Closer inspection revealed their maker lived in Shanghai or Beijing!!
Since then I have spotted them in seaside town after seaside town!!
Am I dissappointed?
No.
Because they remind me of Cold Spring Harbour, and some wee chinese man made a good job of them!!
Only problem is , I fear I am growing to resemble one or two of them myself : will leave you to decide which!! :-D
