Down on the croft....
.....at short notice, Owen and I joined a COAL guided walk on Marion's croft. We grabbed some lunch supplies from Drumbeg Stores en route; baguette and sardines in tomato sauce. Our guide, Romany, was joined by others with experience of local birds and mushrooms to complement her impressive knowledge of local trees, lichens & moss. It was an absorbing way to spend four hours, I had no idea that the croft held such an amazing array of trees and lichens, including the super rare Atlantic Oak. Some of the oak trees are thought to be 500 years old.
On returning to the house I discovered the hedge trimmer had been delivered and so two hours of happy power tool hedge trimming ensued. Please note this is not a euphemism. Mark also arrived to fit the new chimney cowl.
After, Owen went round to look after Mairi and Ewan whilst Nancy and I availed ourselves of the spinning class at Assynt Leisure. Home now, feeling tired and reflecting on a brilliant day.
Note: An abandoned Massey Harris threshing machine which is one of a number of interesting abandoned farming devices.
