Sea Lions

Seen from above, while hanging over the railing at the edge of the wharf

I count a good fifty animals here, all barking and splashing and carrying on. Just a minute before I took this picture, there were a lot more of them, then suddenly a whole crowd decided to take off toward the lighthouse; the stragglers are at the top of the image, looking to catch up. The best thing is that they were leaping like dolphins--apparently this feat is called "porpoising". It really looked like they were playing and enjoying this balmy weather as much as we were.
