Apache Plume Flower
The white petals have dropped from the flower bud and now the stamens are turning into these feathery tentacles. The two buds on the bottom have lost their feathers and are in decline.
This plant earns that name from its plumes that resemble an feather ornament worn on the headdress of Apache War Chiefs.
One of my favorite desert plant and arguably my most photographed flower in all its stages.
