Naburn Locks
Yes we have had glorious warm sunshine today!
So drop everything and off out for the day.
(Not that we had anything planned)
Naburn Locks on the river Ouse near York is where we often go for a walk along the river. Have a look LARGE
At this time of the year there are conker trees lining the path along the bank, and MrC used to come here as a child, and we used to bring our children conkering too.
Today there were more than I have ever seen before!
Came home with a bag full. Well who can resist picking them up!
A peaceful walk along the river.
Love to see the sun shining through the trees, casting its shadows, and reflections of the boats on the water.
We saw three herons, but they were too far away to get a good photo.
We met a couple on their bikes towing this cute little dog.
They had moved back to England to retire, after living in Australia for 30 years.
We also met some fishermen, who told us that salmon came up the river to spawn further up stream, and you could see them jumping in front of the weir.
There are "steps" at the side to help them up .
(Hope to see them next year.)
We had a picnic lunch by the river.
How nice to sit out at this time of year!
Now off to make pizzas for tea. (Quick and easy)
I do hope you have all had good weather too.
What a difference some sunshine makes!
