red deer in Martindale
Glorious weather in the Lakes today.
I took so many varied photos it was very hard to choose a blip so I have posted some others in my blipfolio just click here
the highlight of the day was a trip over to Martindale, a remote valley with no road. It is the home of Englands oldest red dear herd and at this time of the year their roaring echos around the valley. This blip shows the hinds attracted by a roaring stag the other side of the valley but their stag was determined not to be out done. It was so wonderful to share this valley with these majestic animals.
we did however meet a gamekeeper who with a group of others were out to shoot the deer as rthey need culling every year. we did spot them later crawling over the ridge rifles in hand but the herd were spooked and the deer won the day, at least this time. (photo of this in Blipfolio)
