Floodlit Abbotsbury gardens
Such a wonderful evening. Tonight was date night for Paul and myself. We are both so busy that it really is a rare night that we have no children and no other plans. These nights we call date night and make the most of. Tonight was my favourite so far I think. We headed to Abbotsbury and the first evening of the Sub tropical gardens by floodlight. I have been a couple of times before but not for many years and Paul has never been. It is wonderful, walking around in the dark with the plants lit with different colours and the paths marked with lanterns is just so magical. It is very peaceful and hearing the occasional owl and next to no other human contact is perfect.
We spent about 1 1/2 hours walking, taking pictures and chatting. I love the fact that we enjoy so many of the same things, I love the fact that we have very different opinions on things but respect and listen to each others views, it makes for some brilliant interesting conversations. Then I love the fact that even though I am slightly odd and come out with some daft/stupid/odd questions Paul humours me and will always answers those too - I was truly curious as to whether someone would have to go round at the end and blow out all the tea lights in the lanterns or whether they just let them burn out?
We were both starving by the time we had walked round and so headed to Dorchester and decided on pizza express. OMG it was so lush. Doughballs followed by sharing a Padana pizza (Goats cheese, mozzarella, spinach, red & caramelised onions, garlic oil) with added anchovies and capers and a Calzone Verdure (Goat’s cheese, chargrilled vegetables, sweet baby onions, pesto, baby spinach and Gran Moravia cheese with an arrabbiata sauce), both seriously good. Apparently after that I had a face that said it needed chocolate and ice-cream, well if the face says it who am I to argue? So ended with a chocolate glory and a coffee. I nearly had to be rolled back to the truck I was that stuffed but my gosh it was delicious and with perfect company the evening for me couldn't have been any better.
Really struggled to pick just one picture from the many I took but I think this one shows the atmosphere of the gardens the best.
