Colchicum cupanii

One of the smaller colchicum this species is quite variable. This is one of the nicest forms imho, with the added virtue of being garden hardy here. The flowers are about the size of a crocus but much longer lasting. Neat leaves follow, none of the cabbage-like properties of the larger colchicum.

In other news ... we are now a two car family. New car (3-y-0 Ford Cmax) means we can be warm and dry with sweet music. Leaky old banger will be back-up and work car when I have to be away. Not the green option but I'll still be on the bike most days :-)
