Last Chance to see .............

...... well you've got two more weeks and then it is gone. This is Clayton le Woods Victorian underground service reservoir built in 1883. It has been the subject of a campaign to save it, first by an attempt to get it listed as a heritage structure, then by trying to raise cash to buy it. Sadly neither happened. The structure is due to be demolished to make way for 14 new houses. It is said to be unique because of its brick built pillars and vaulted ceiling unlike other reservoirs of this age had cast iron pillars and concrete slab roofs. It very much like a cathedral undercroft. The developer has kindly agreed to allow public access for two weeks so local people can come and see it, they have also produced a glossy history guide to the structure. I might pop back during the week when it is less busy.
