A shooting at the Savoy

I can today reveal that there has been a shooting at the Savoy Hotel in London. But there's no need to panic; it happened about 90 years ago. We had a lovely afternoon celebrating a good friend's 60th birthday in the D'Oyly Carte room at the Savoy, which overlooks the entrance. We couldn't help noticing this hole in the window, which quite clearly looked as though it was a bullet hole. Apparently, back in the 1920's, the room was used as a Jeweller's shop, and one day some very bad men decided to rob it. Their plan was simple, rob the jewellers at gunpoint, shoot out the window, and throw the spoils down to their accomplice to be taken away. Unfortunately, they hadn't been aware of the latest technology. Freshly imported from America - bullet proof glass! I don't know whether they managed to get away with anything, but the bullet hole remains to this day.
