Can I Shred It Yet?

Far too much of my day was spent thinking about, and experiencing the poor user experience of, our regional transit card -- the ORCA card. From cards mysteriously becoming blocked, to added funds not being available promptly, to the we're-gonna-keep-it-a-secret attitude that seems to prevail when inquiries are made about exactly what data is stored by the cards and by the system -- there is a lot of room for improvement in the ORCA card system. When it works, it's very convenient. When it doesn't... you'll want to shred your card, to say the least. The card in this photo? Never used, but mysteriously blocked. Thanks, ORCA.
