Bumper crop of carb apples
Just outside our back garden there are several crab apples planted by the former development corporation in the mid 1970's.
This year has been a good year for apples, due to the late blossom following the March/April snow and frost.
Determined not to let the apples become windfalls , we collected them and are turning them into apple & chilli jelly and the pulp will be turned into apple cheese.
We don't have a jelly strainer so a little ingenuity was required. We suspended a chinois, over a bowl , using para cord (one of the best ever inventions), weighting the pulp, which is in a muslin square, down with scale weights.
