Apple Day!

My brother, who lives and works in Singapore, was home in the West Country for the weekend, before heading up to London for a week's worth of meetings so a road trip was in order!

Off we set on an artisanal gastro shopping tour of South Somerset!!

Stop 1: The Somerset Cider Brandy Company at Martock for vintage cider brandy, cider brandy chutney and of course, cider. Our visit happened to coincide with the distillery's Apple Day!

Stop 2: Barrington Court, where they also happened to be holding an Apple Day, for some Cox's Orange Pippins, and Christmas Crackers to be shipped off to Mexico, via Singapore! Also a quick whizz around the Gertrude Jekyll garden, followed by a sunny alfresco lunch of Somerset Apple Cake.

Stop 3: An organic farm shop at Lopenhead to buy Gin made in Bristol, and Vodka from Dorset made from milk! Yes, milk!!

Stop 4: A second farm shop for Cheddar cheese crackers and beer from Glastonbury called Hedge Monkey!

And what did I come home with? A box of chocolate kittens!!
