Gully

Caught up at last! Over the last few days, I didn't manage to get near the computer for long enough to sort blips out, and only managed to take a few pictures over those days. Even today, the gaps between showers (or torrential downpours on occasion) weren't really long enough to get out anywhere to take pictures.

I did manage to pull up the weeds which were growing along the front of the house and then began tackling the gully which runs down the side of the house. As shown in the picture above, it tends to fill up with leaves and bits of slate and mortar which fall when slates drop - and when builders hack out the old stuff to put new in. Then the worms get at it and start to form soil, and before you know it, it's holding quite a lot of water and if left, the damp works its way into the walls.

So, I managed about half of the gully before the next shower hit, and then it was time for cooking tea, as my daughter had a six o'clock start at work and needed a lift in. I'll see about finishing the rest over the coming week, although according to the Countryfile forecast, I'm going to be dodging showers again. At least it's warm.
