Dragonfly

Who would have thought that you'd get dragonflies in the dry heat of Fuerteventura. Here in the UK you only get these beauties where there is a fair bit of standing water, but I found this one near the airport with no fresh water that I could see.

This fella (I'm pretty sure he's a fella - no ovipositor?) was perfectly happy to sit and pose for me on his favourite twig. I can't remember how many times I spooked him only for him to return after a few circuits of his landing zone.
