A Series Of Photographs Of My Orchids LC Blue Boy (C Ariel coerulea x LC Elegans) ‘Gainsborough’ HCC/AOS
Evidently there are orchid breeders that are art lovers. This is an interesting cross because of its 'blue" color (a rarity in the Cattleya family), the number of blooms per spike (all these 10 flowers are on one flower stem), the size of the flower - about 4" across - and the beautiful, subtle, soft, unsweet, fragrance like vetiver, sandalwood and oak moss all mixed up. I have two specimen sized plants that are being just a thrill. "LC Blue Boy was the first truly successful blue hybrid since the early 1900’s. Registered by breeder B.O. Bracey in 1960, this hybrid went on to make many more progeny."
