Long time not seen but never forgotten
Can't believe this....after many years I get a request on Facebook from my first ever foster son Edmon! He's now 32 with 3 beautiful children and we are going to speak tomorrow! I have a very special place in my heart for this young man as he came to me very traumatised from war torn Albania and had no idea who of his family had survived. His English was terrible but we spent a lot of time hugging and trying to understand each other so I could console him. I'll never forget the day he was whisked away from me to go up north as he was an asylum seeker, he gave me a ring his dad had given him, which I have to this day safely stowed away. I can't express how traumatic this is for us foster careers, we never forget the children who have touched our lives and hope likewise they never forget us, and can gain some solace that for a brief time in their lives perhaps they had some real stability.and genuine care afforded them. I've no doubt Edmons family was tightly knit, but conditions of that war were terrible and families torn apart.
