On the 'Estate'
Abundant water
brings forth a generous crop,
even in the desert.

We have the most wonderful neighbours. While home in Canada, our underground sprinkling system here in Yuma failed us. Our neighbours pitched in and watered our little estate faithfully to keep our greenery green and alive. We've arrived back to see all plant life healthy and happy. The bougainvillea, which suffered a serious setback last January when temperatures plummeted to near freezing, was nothing but bare, thorny branches when we left. I was sure we'd return to find it dead on the ground. Instead, it's recovered with amazing speed, as only a tenacious desert plant can. The orange and lemon trees have a nice little crop. The lantana, with it's lovely pink and yellow blossoms, also returned from the dead after being hacked back to several small branches by an unmerciful landscaper. The yard has colour and life.....and NO grass to mow! Ah, Arizona.....gotta love it!
