Down the track 4

The sunny intervals between showers were even shorter today, so this is a quick picture of the track I have been walking down this week. It is actually part of the Pennine Way, taking walkers to and from the village. It is a very old farm track and farm vehicles still use it to get to the fields, as you can see from the tyre marks. The water by the gate is where a stream often overflows onto the path, especially after rain such as we have had. At that point, the path divides - left continues the Pennine Way; right takes you past that gate and up towards the Pike.

Yesterday some people were concerned that I was lying in wet grass in order to get the angle of the fungi. I wasn’t! And here you can see why. This part of the track is sunken and below the height of the field. The field on the right is level with the banking, so I was taking pictures through the fence, more or less at eye level. A bit of a cheat really, I suppose.
