Fingest Church and it's famous Norman Tower

Today I have actually been out to do some site work, picked a bad day of course as it rained most of the day. This is St Bartholomew's Church in Fingest, it nestles in the valley and the whole area is awash with autumn colour.

Nikolaus Pevsner says the Norman tower seems absurdly mighty for the church it is appended to! The tower has one bell in it, cast by James Hobbs who owned an iron foundry in the next village, Lane End. The bell is dated 1830 and is the only bell with his name on it, although it is thought he may have cast a few others for local churches.
