THORNHAM CHANNEL (NORFOLK)

We did sea watching for the first part of the morning at Holme dunes. We saw red-throated divers, black throated divers and great Northern divers which were all great finds. We watched a Short-eared Owl fly in from over the sea, our guide said that it had probably flown from Scandinavia, in one flight with no stops, which is amazing.

We went to Thornham Channel to look for waders - and I chose this for my blip as the remoteness appealed to me. There weren't very many at this sight, so we ate our picnic lunch and then moved on to Titchwell where we walked down to the beach, to see what the sea offered.

I haven't done a species count but we must have seen around a hundred species today.

The two birds that stood out for me was the Jack Snipe (I'd not seen this bird before) and a small flock of Snow Buntings which we spotted on the beach (as they are such pretty little birds).

A tiring but excellent day!
