Dendroica townsendi
Had a little photo shoot with some of the backyard birds this morning, in between classes. I'm talking about birds in my backyard--a pretty novel phenomenon given that this is the first backyard I've had in a long long time. I moved into a large old house with many housemates a few weeks ago, and since then I've been enjoying the view from my large second-story window that looks out over alder and apple trees teeming with sparrows, finches, and warblers.
This gorgeous pile of feathers is called Townsend's Warbler, and it's common in our area during wintertime. Lucky us.
