Record breakers!

It's not often I have a long story to tell but today I do. So grab yourself a seat, possibly a cuppa and I'll begin :)

It's been Red Ribbon week at our school this week. The National Red Ribbon Campaign is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation, reaching millions of young people. The kids have had a fun activity every day during the campaign and also learnt about drug prevention and awareness. So far this week, the kids have taken a pledge to say no to drugs, decorated the school in red ribbons, worn neon and sunglasses for a Bright Future and wore silly socks for Sock it to Drugs.
Today was 'Band Together Against Drugs'. The kids all had to come to school wearing red as they attempted to break a world record. They were to form the longest human electrical circuit! An official representative was there from the Guinness Book of Records and emergency crews were there just in case hehe!! All the kids from Kindergarden to 6th Grade lined up and linked wrists. They had two trial runs just to make sure it was working and then the official attempt. It was over in a few seconds but THEY DID IT!!!

Approximately 1,113 students and the circuit measured 1,830 feet. They aren't sure if it will be in this years Guinness Book of Records or next but we should find out in a few days. Once they knew they had broken the record the red balloons were released into the sky and kids were all rewarded with an ice lolly!

Lots of fun was had by all. Due to the fact they had to take an official head count and have witnesses the parents had to stay on the fence around the playground. My blip only shows some of the kids but you get the general idea. I liked the excitement on this girls face as they got ready to be zapped!

If you've made it to the end, thanks for reading :)
