Rough Seas

This morning the centre of a deep depression passed over our aft deck. The barometer was low at a steady 984 mbar and there was no wind. Signs that you are in the middle of a depression and that it won't take long before it starts to blow. Round noon, the Hermod took off the gangway, moved out and connected the Husky and the Retriever to strongpoints on her portside. When both tugs were connected and paid out 800 m of tow wire, the wind picked up from a westerly direction. Within the hour, a steady 35-40 knot was blowing and the seas were building up with the speed of sound. According to the latest weather forecast, this will continue for the night and early morning. If we're still afloat tomorrow, I'll show you more about the effects of this weather.
