Bathgate Gala Day.

Major themes this year were pirates, penguins and overweight super-heros.

The idea of the gala day is pretty simple. Half the population dresses up for a parade and the other half lines the streets to cheer. Sprinkle liberally with pipe and brass bands and you get the idea. I've yet to meet a Bathgate person young or old who doesn't think that this is the most important day of the year.

Come the evening of course the entire town is pissed up and descends into a bam pot war zone. Something for everyone then...
