Ginkgo biloba in fall attire

The oldest existing species of tree, a living fossil. It is similar to fossils dating back 270 million years. Notice the unique form of the leaves. It has no close living relatives. This is a sapling. The tree can be huge, with a hight of 20 meters or more, but the growth is slow. It is native to China. In other parts of the world you will find it only i parks or gardens. This is the only specimen i know of in our village. But I would be surprised if it cannot be found somewhere else on the island.

Edit 26. Oct: I see that some visitors think of the yellow leaves as flowers. Understandable, considering their unique form. But they are leaves, and green in the summer.
