Dropping off...

...with the winds at our backs.

Large shows what an awesome place it is

I've had a great day. A terrible forecast, gales, snow... and we still managed to find a trip we could do safely.

We had a short-ish trip, around 5 hours in the Craigieburns. We had a little blue sky and a lot of snow. Yep, nearly the end of October and there is heaps of dry, crunchy, squeaky snow in the back country.

Camp Saddle was as high as could safely go. The wind was fierce and within a couple of minutes of plugging our way up there, it went from blue sky to blizzard.

We retreated and found the most sheltered spot we could for lunch, under the deck of the one of the Craigieburn Skifield club lodges. The snow landed on our sandwiches, cooled our tea and water dripped through the deck above, but we didn't care.

Not a long hard day but the grunt up through fresh snow to the saddle gave us a blow out.

What's with the bare legs and head. It's a boy thing. Definitely not a girl thing ;-)

I still might change my photo but for now this is it.
