King Alfred stands in the Abbey he founded in Shaftesbury. Lovely place for an early stroll,not a lot left but you can work it all out with some imagination. Well looked after. This statue of him dates back to 1994,by Andrew Du Mont. I think this King was the first one to put the Vikings back in their place.
