Cheer up
I am feeling a little melancholy today - maybe it's some of the recent sad news of people losing loved ones, maybe it's the thought of winter ahead, or maybe it's just one of those inexplicable things that happens sometimes. For me, one of the best medicines for the blues is to take my camera out and see what the creatures in the yard are up to. Something about watching the birds always lifts my spirits. And today was no exception.
How could I fail to smile when a tiny warbler flew up, landed in the bittersweet branch I'd just put in the garden (to dress up the dried flower heads), and gazed at me intently? How could anyone not feel just a bit lighter seeing that inquisitive little face, that little splash of yellow feathers under the wing, and that splash of yellow on his rump?
It is another clear, sunny, chilly fall day here - I should go out and do some work in the yard, but I'm going to make myself a cup of tea and curl up with the cats instead. And, I'll probably have to give myself another dose of "bird therapy" later, too. Meanwhile, I think this is the perfect blip for today. Hope it makes you smile, too.
Two more shots HERE on Flickr, both of the yellow-rumped warbler.
Happy Sunday...
