Grey Seal Pup
Yearly Pilgrimage to Donna Nook.
This is a Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve.
Every year the seals give birth to their pups near the sand dunes.
This happens between late October and Early December.
So far this year, five pups have been born.
This is the earliest we have been.
Last year we saw hundreds of pups and their parents.
The breeding cycle of the grey seal is fascinating, and for some reason thousands of them return every year to the Lincolnshire coastline at Donna Nook to have their babies.
It is possible to get very close to them without disturbing them.
Their welfare is paramount, and volunteers with The Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust ensure this is the case.
This is a photo of one of the newborns.
