A fine morning and a friend came over from Grantown on Spey and we spent the morning on the bay trying to identify a variety of birds. Oyster catchers, turnstones, dunlin, godwits, stints, curlew and knots were among those we saw before retiring for lunch of homemade bean soup, cheesey scones and banana bread. We then headed off to Spynie which was very busy and met a nice family with a little girl drawing pictures of the birds she saw. The water rail was present but it was getting a bit dark to produce the best pictures - so another day!
