Chimneys

And very tall ones too. All in use now since the weather has turned cooler. Our house is abutted onto this fine building although not as grand (we are part of what used to be servants quarters, the gun room and stables. Its all a bit hotch potch and meandering. The building and chimneys were built in 1846 and some of them could do with re lining. but at about 150 foot high it is an expensive job. Occasionally the odd piece of chimney lining (I think) falls down into the fireplace. We also get the odd bird. An Owl once - a big one who waited very patiently for me to get him out of the stove (not alight) and carry him outside where he gracefully flew off. Occasionally a Rook descends, panics and leaves a sooty trail all around the walls and furniture. Fingers crossed the lining lasts a bit longer other wise it will be an electric fire.
