Our Stream
This stream flows down through the land here and passed the house, I am always aware of it's presence, it roars by after heavy rain, in a drought it continues flowing under the rocky surface but there is no sound and I miss it. About fifty meters above the house, a barrel has been sunk into the stream bed and holes have been drilled into it so the water can fill the barrel which is a quarter full of stones, the water filters through the stones then leaves in a pipe at the bottom, the pipe runs down the stream into the house and in the twenty years we have lived here we have enjoyed the crystal clear water, it has met our needs for water and even in a long hot summer several years ago when it didn't rain for six weeks, the water flowed into the barrel, albeit slowly and kept us watered, I love and appreciate this little stream and like to fall asleep listening to it's familiar sound.
