Lights on the Port Hills

I was going to make today the first day I didn't have an image to post on blip for over a year. I had taken a few useful record shots, but nothing suitable to publish.

At the last minute I decided to go out and try a few night shots, something I've been intending to do for ages. So this is from the windsurfing area by the Avon-Heathcote Estuary, not far to go, and amazing really that I haven't managed to get there before. In a couple of shots the lights were too burned out, so I need to knock the exposure back a bit.

I remembered to take a torch, but not a spare battery. Fortunately the one in the camera was well charged, but lots of long exposures use a fair amount of battery power.
