Shaken, not stirred...

sometimes I am actually girlie....

Slowly on the mend.

Needed to pop down the shops for a few things, and decided I was okay enough in me to look at shoes. Working for a major publication, I'm expected to be at The Melbourne Cup next week, being all fancy, looking femme, mingling with all the other soirée types, and generally having an awful time, as I'm not even allowed to accept any of the free champers on offer because of the super fun meds I'm on...
So, the boyfriend got me a stunning 50s glam dress, a stunning and slightly quirky (but oh so me) necklace of pearls, a stunning dress ring, and stunning diamond tunnel earrings for my stretched ears. Boyfriend did good. Boyfriend is also my plus one, so he has gone and got suit stuff that matches and compliments my dress. It will be our first official event as a couple, our formal debut... We have been a 'thing' for some time now, though keeping it mostly under wraps. A few close friends and family know (his family told him "marry the woman", my mother has said "marry the man"... Guessing that's a good sign)....
Anywho. I have several pairs of shoes that would work nicely with the gorgeous dress, but just not quite perfectly... This pedantic girlie moment is stressing me out no end, and amusing the boyfriend who isn't used to seeing me having a girlpanic about SHOES. Despite me not wishing for him to spend any more money on me, he insisted on buying me the perfect pair of shoes (not found in this picture).... The problem being that I have size 11 feet, so shoes that I like are hard to come by in my size... But.... Four shoe stores, 90 minutes and a lot of "you really are far too tall in heels, darling, but you look lovely" later.... The perfect pair were found.... In the most boutique-ish of the stores, but lucky for me (more to the point, boyfriend's bank balance/credit card), they were on sale and not obscenely/offensively expensive... And they are the sort of shoes I will wear again and again, and again.

So, shoepanic is dealt with. Our outfits are fantastic, we are very excited that our first official event as a couple will involve being dressed to the nines. And I know my facebook world will be surprised to see me so femme, and relieved to finally have the identity of the boyfriend revealed after months of only knowing him as "Butt Head".
