Meeting the younger me
My portrait painted 39 years ago by Gordon Miles, a young painter my parents lent studio space to and helped along the way. They commissioned this, probably much to my annoyance at the time. It was begun very casually in that I turned up to chat about when to start and it started then in what I was wearing at the time. I'd just come back from a holiday in Greece I think. The portrait was actually hung in the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition in 1975 and mentioned in a review in the Telegraph calling it " a reticent but sensitive portrait". I used the self-timer for this!
