Zephyr

By Zephyr

Last Listen.

Love has come and gone,
our life together played out like a song.
I have aged, and with every turn of the page, Ive wrinkled and torn.
The tears that have spilt, both the good and the bad,
fill my soul.

Now pitted and dirty, my hands once held,
the softest and tender of fingers most slender.
Yours.
But you slipped,
now all I have is this bottle,
Gripped.

My heart, a faint render,
a softer hue from a life lived pumping for you.
We traveled and painted, our lives interrelated.
Our immortal murals written on windows,
but the steam has now faded.
Evenings spent embraced, kissing,
replaced with me reminiscing.

You are with another.
So now when I hear our broken song,
I feel so inherently wrong.
For you
and me
my love,
could have been perfect.
Now my life is worthless.

I pick up the pieces of a mirror once held,
a former reflection of our love connection.
But now I am tainted.
My love, unrequited.
The sharp corners that cut are just a reminder,
That I can still feel.

My old heart still beats, but the pulse is now slowing.
the cold
and the dark
and the fear
is now growing.

Soon I will be gone,
but please,
my love,
Remember our song.
